Satellite Broadcast       Streaming Video

There are four ways to participate in the Energy Management Teleworkshop for 2006

(1)    Live streaming video available on the day of the event over the internet on your desktop computer or via a projection system in a conference room,

(2)    Digital and Analog Satellite downlink technology for group showings or taping for later use,

(3)    Archived streaming video available after the event over the internet  on your desktop computer or via a projection system in a conference room, and

(4)    DVDs requested by your group facilitator for group viewings at staff meetings, training meetings, or shared by several individuals.

The format of the course is similar to a talk show where you can call in, email or fax questions to the instructors, live, on-the-air in real time.  Instructor presentations are conducted in 4 hour segments from Noon until 4pm EST on 3 consecutive Tuesdays in February.   Each module runs for approximately 2 hours.  Refer to the box above for details and click on each module title to view descriptions of the individual topic.

The information in the course is updated annually and is designed to assist facility management personnel in achieving Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPACT) and E.O. 13123 objectives for energy and water savings, and alternative financing.  Although the curriculum is developed for federal facility needs, many of the issues have common and wide applicability.  Even if you are not part of the federal workforce, FEMP welcomes your participation in this valuable course and set of resources.

To prepare for the live instructor presentations and maximize your training time, you will need to review the Self Study Tutorial, published here by January 31st at this dedicated website, so consider book marking this site now.  The Tutorial includes note-taking versions of the instructors’ Power Point (PPT) slides and helpful handouts which you should print and use to follow along during the live instructor presentations.   We do not recommend printing the Self Study Tutorial, as it is not set up in a format for convenient printing and is so comprehensive, it would need several large binders.  The online Self Study Tutorial is available 24/7 and requires approximately 20 – 28 hours to complete.  After January 31st, you may access the Self Study Tutorial by clicking on the picture above.

This course is sponsored by FEMP and is FREE, however, you must register as an individual participant and submit an online Course Evaluation at the end of the course.  It makes no difference which technology you use to take the course, as long as you register and complete an online course evaluation, you may return to this site and print a personalized Certificate of Completion.  This website, the archived streaming video, and the online Self Study Tutorial is available year round so you may return to use the resources at any time.

To register online for the course, click on the picture below and follow the directions on each screen.  You will eventually be automatically linked to FEMP Central Registration, however, as soon as you submit your registration you will automatically be re-directed back to this site.  All individuals should register as a “participant” and anyone who is coordinating or facilitating a group should register as a “facilitator”.  If you are both a facilitator and a participant, you do not need to register twice, just mark both fields.  Only Group Facilitators need to fill out the additional information requested on the registration page.  Registration is open year round, and may be completed any time.  This allows for last minute or spontaneous participation.

On each of the three dates for the live broadcasts, come back to this website to access the live streaming by clicking on the computer picture above.  To use the live streaming video at your computer, you will need to make preparations in advance.  You will need to have the free version of RealPlayer or Windows Media software already downloaded and tested, have your speakers hooked up and tested for the audio, and have clearance through the “Fire Wall”.  For detailed technical instructions on using streaming video or to download the software, click on the computer picture above.  To use the satellite downlink technology, you will need the satellite coordinates in advance which will be posted at this site by January 31st.  You will need to tune in the broadcast in advance to make sure your satellite system is compatible.  Test time is 30 minutes.  Click on the satellite picture above for details
